Prayer Shawl Ministry of LUMC
Our Ministry is to knit or crochet and distribute prayer shawls for members of our church family and community who are recovering from critical illnesses and surgeries, to console those who are grieving or who feel forgotten, as well as for celebrating in times of great joy.
Our members have prayerfully and lovingly created the shawls knowing they will provide the recipient comfort, hope, joy, peace and the healing touch of God’s love. Three beads representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are attached to each one along with a tag containing a special prayer for The Wearer.
A roster is kept of those who have received shawls to ensure people are not missed, so please fill out the log book. The shawls are now located in the Fellowship Hall next to the Library. If you know of someone that needs the warming comfort of being wrapped in God’s love, please stop by to get a shawl or contact Jeannie Hill.
If you are interested in joining the Prayer Shawl Ministry, we meet the first Wednesday of each month in Smoot Hall from 9:30 to 11:00. Patterns for the shawls and donated yarn are available at the meetings or you can use your own pattern and yarn.
