Our Prayer Life at Lakeview UMC

Woman praying alone

For those of us who seek God through prayer, Lakeview provides a number of paths for each of us. Many of us understand each one, but most of us do not. Therefore, as we enter the busy spring and summer months, I offer a short guide.

A Short-term Prayer List is found on the back page of the announcement insert. It is comprised of names our members and guests have submitted each week as prayer requests for friends, relatives and neighbors. Normally, these names remain only four weeks.

A Long-term Prayer List of names submitted for prayer concerns is printed each month in The Lakeviewer Newsletter. Generally, these are names persons for whom prayer is requested for more than four weeks.

The Prayer Chain contains the names of persons in the hospital and in rehabilitation facilities. Also included are the names of persons receiving hospice care and persons who will be having surgery in the near future. This is a list that is limited to active medical treatment. After a relatively short time on the Prayer Chain, these persons may be placed on the short-term prayer list.

Meetings and Worship Services are paths to seeking God as well. And we find prayer to be uplifting and affirming of the presence of God among us.

If you would like to learn more about our prayer life at Lakeview UMC, please contact Pastor Linda or any of our clergy. Remember that God already knows our needs and is working on them before we speak to him. Simply put prayer in and of itself is a preparation for taking action to care with compassion for one another each and every day.
