Welcome to the Betty Barrick Library!

We have two new books added to our collection.

The Broken Road by Richard Paul Evans

the-broken-road-COVERThis is the story of a young man who ran away from home because his father abused him. He took a bus from Ogden, Utah to Las Vegas and then to California. When he got on the bus, he met a young girl named Monica. She has a friend in the landscaping business who needs help so he gets a job with her friend. After a month or two, he and a friend go to a “how to make a lot of money” seminar. (The young man’s name is Charles James, supposedly a 3rd great-grandson of Jesse James.) Charles decides to go to work for MacKay, the promoter of the wealth seminar. You will have to read to find out how it turns out.

Profiles, Resilience, Courage and Faith: American Spirit, by Taya Kyle and Jim DeFelice

Ametican SpiritYou will want to read this book. It catalogs the lives of people who have illnesses, grief and many other problems that can occur. The one story that really amazed me was the story of Alexis who had a rare brain tumor. She asked her family if she could open a lemonade stand to make money for other kids who had cancer! The result was lemonade stands opening all over to help Alexis fund the program. There are a lot of organizations in the book that help in transportation and other agencies.
