WOW! Do you still love fire works?

I do. I still love to ah and ooh and say WOW! at the really fancy ones. This month we can surely do that, WOW! I love that word WOW! It can express so many things. WOW! Look at that sunset, WOW! Did you see that accident, or WOW! did you see the new little twins next door, they are so cute. Plus the word WOW! is so easy to spell and that is what makes a word good for me. Well, I read a book that we have here in the library that has the word WOW in the title. It gives a whole new use and meaning to the word WOW! It’ a beautiful little book. It is a joy, simply written , easy to read and has only 102 pages. This book is so surprising and has such meaning, that I have actually read it twice. Here is one of the reasons I love it. It answers a lot of questions I have often had. Come to find out, many of my friends here at the church have had the same questions. This little book has many of the answers. The title is, are you ready,

HELP THANKS WOW by Anne Lamott.

We have been going to this church for 18 years. Almost everyone I have spoken with have so many questions about prayer; what words to use, the length, how do you start, what words you close with etc. When folks are asked to offer a prayer at a meeting, most would rather have a root canal.

This book makes it all so easy. We should be happy to pray, excited and want to share our prayers with your friends. This book helps take away those fears and concerns and makes you feel good about any prayer you may say or want to say. The main idea behind this book is that basically there are only three prayers, HELP, THANKS and WOW. Here are some quotes,

“Prayer means that, in some unique way, we believe we’re invited into a relationship with someone who hears us when we speak in silence.”

here’s another one,

”Prayer is talking to something or anything with which we seek union, even when we are bitter, or insane or broken.”

I sincerely hope you read this lovely little book and enjoy it as much as I did. I learned so much.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY TO YOU ALL, STAY SAFE AND SAY YOUR PRAYERS
