Hymn Sing Sunday – Psalm 96 1-4a, 11-13
Worship, including worship through music pleases God. The closer we get to the truth of God’s grace and salvation, the beauty of God is revealed and more worship will well up within you. It begins with a conscious act of will and sacrifice to serve God and in this sense, worship is a verb. Word, music, service, humility – all lead us closer to God and into more worship.
Throughout the Bible we find both people’s response to God’s love, forgiveness, mercy, compassion, and grace result in something called ‘worship’ and we can find instruction on worship. Worship takes many forms and can be as individual as you and I are. Often we experience God in those times when we are together singing, sharing the Word, and in prayer. Bearing each other’s burden’s and offering grace and forgiveness can occur as well. Worship frees us to experience the Holy Spirit and draw closer to God leaving worldly cares for a time that we might know God and receive his grace and renew our faith.
