Today’s Scripture – Psalm 13
In this Psalm of lament and sorrow the writer complains that he has been forgotten, ignored. Yet God remains silent in the Psalm. This is a reality for us as humans, harsh as it may be. We feel forgotten, ignored, even cast aside at times in our life and God gives us room to lament and complain about it. When we realized that God is, in fact, incapable of forgetting us, we are humbled and moved to dependence on God. This Psalm allows us room to vent and reorient to God.
It is said that God is ‘omnipotent’ – he knows everything. God created everything yet the Psalm writer seems to feel ignored, forgotten by God. God is capable of forgetting, he has promised to forget our sins if we confess Jesus as Lord. But if God is capable of forgetting there is one thing he is incapable of and that’s forgetting you.
