Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 10:14-15
Making disciples means we have to get off the sidelines of our faith and bear down on the work of sharing the good news and mentoring others into faith. This is the ‘stuff’ of kingdom building and is Jesus’ last command for us.
There is a tendency today to not share our faith openly and people have many reasons for not sharing; fear, lack of confidence, knowledge, and even laziness. This, the third grace or command is also the last one Jesus left us with before he ascended into heaven; “Go into the world and make disciples.” It may seem hard and frightening, but if we truly have Jesus and have been transformed by the Holy Spirit, it is a joy to share faith and help nurture others in learning more, watching them get off the sidelines, making a difference in people’s lives and building the kingdom.
