I Timothy 2:5-7

We discover through Paul’s words in I Timothy 2 the ways in which we as Disciples of Christ learn to make our lives count. Paul guides us to focus our knowledge of God as the FOCAL EFFECT of our faith. The power of being focused upon a single world-changing task glorifies God. Paul’s task was to be the apostle to the Gentiles.

Ours might be to study God’s WORD and put it into action as does Eli Reeves one of our Stephen Ministers here at Lakeview UMC. Paul further emphasizes the FUNNEL EFFECT in which God’s purpose and power flow through us so that it feels as though an unseen hand guides us even into strange and foreign territory enabling us to accomplish more than we have ever dreamed possible. This is the case in the ministry of many of our Stephen Ministers, particularly the ministry of Barbara Littlejohn.
