Revelation 1:4b-8

Christ is relevant in all ages to all ages. This consistency and timelessness is the piece we need in a world in constant change full of unpredictability.

Verse 4 begins with a version of the Trinity – the God who is, who was, and who is to come, setting the stage for the continuing faithfulness and reliability of God. The kingship of Christ is celebrated in the second part of verse 5 and 6 with the reinforcement of our salvation through Jesus while v7 restates the promise of the second coming of Christ. Verse 8, “I am Alpha and Omega…” is a Hebrew method of stating God is truth – all-encompassing and ever-present for us. No matter what happens in this world, we can depend on Christ as the ultimate king.
