Genesis 1:1, Exodus 35:35, Ephesians 2:10
We can know God because of his character. God is a creating God and since we are made in his image we carry the gift of creation with us.
One can scarcely “prove” God’s existence. Empirical evidence still requires a step of faith when it comes to God, yet we cross that divide daily when we trust others or fall in love. The Bible helps us to understand the mystery of God through his character, this very first characteristic revealed in the Bible and then lived out through the people of God.
Few things display this creativity more than the arts – painting, drawing, writing, woodworking, restoring, textiles, music, food, and all the other ‘things’ we humans create for beauty, story, function, and hearing. To understand God’s character, even a sampling, leads us closer in relationship to the creator.
“Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little.” Edmund Burke
