James 1:17-21
Faithfulness is better done than said. The reality of our human condition is that our faith in God is a practice, a discipline that takes time to mature and become a part of who we are. For many of us this is a life-long practice.
James begins this letter written to the twelve tribes scattered across the middle east – the beginning of the Christian diaspora or “the scattering.” James provides instruction on living a faithful life in the middle of trials and temptations, certainly appropriate for all generations. Today, in the midst of alarming and dramatic polarization of thought in our culture and reflected in media and social media, we are in need of frequent grounding for our continuing life of faith and following Jesus.
