Sacrifice and Grace

Hebrews 9:24-28

Jesus made a sacrifice once and for all to enable all who follow him to receive eternal life. We sacrifice for peace and freedom around the world, yet we often fail to take hold of the freedom Christ offers.

On the 11th day at the eleventh hour in the 11th month we celebrate Armistice day; the day hostilities ended in the first World War. Today, 100 years have passed. The “War to End Wars” hasn’t and all too many have sacrificed, all too many have had to serve, and so we celebrate, but we also grieve. Above all the human fray, Christ lives, overcoming death, overcoming sin, overcoming guilt, overcoming fear for each of us. Sacrifice may be a part of our lives, but let’s make it count for something and sacrifice ourselves for the kingdom.
