Mission & Outreach Update for July 2021

MissionsOutreach

Missions and Outreach are an important part of Lakeview. Thanks to the support of our church congregation, the Mission and Outreach Committee has been able to reach out to many local groups and charities.

Your contributions are still needed for Valley View Food Bank. With the extreme heat and pandemic, the Food Bank needs your contributions of food and water. Donations can be left in the donation box at the church. Peanut butter and tuna are always needed. Later this summer we will have our annual school book bag drive.

JUSTA Center and Mana House are also is need of bottles of water. The extreme heat is very hard on our homeless population. We continue to take your donations to both of these where your support is appreciated.

Greg and Karen Odle led the successful drive for Habitat for Humanity. Lakeview donated over $1415 to Habitat. This adds to the $1000 we donated to help them buy a new generator. Generators are used on each work site.

One of our more recent projects is providing one lunch a month to JUSTA Center. JUSTA Center provides services to homeless senior citizens. We are appreciative of those of you who have volunteered to help us in the preparation and serving of this meal. We continue to welcome any volunteers who would like to help with this. We take JUSTA Center lunch on the third Friday of every month and usually leave the church at 9:00. Help is needed on the Thursdays before we take the meal down to prepare it. We will be meeting at 9:00 on these Thursdays in the Fellowship Hall kitchen. Please contact Betty Stewart if you would like to volunteer. In May we served sloppy joes, and in June, grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.
