Mission and Outreach Team – February 2022

The Mission and Outreach Team has met and planned for an exciting new year. We are excited about the prospect of a new program, the I-Help Program for the homeless in our area. If the church adopts this program, we plan to make helping organize and maintain this outreach to our community homeless a priority and focus in 2022.

We would like to thank our church members for their support of our Christmas Toy Drive. You donated toys, gifts and money to support children in our area through Valley Food Bank. We gave the Food Bank Christmas bags for the parents to put toys in and Christmas books that related the true meaning of Christmas. We also want to thank you for your amazing donation of over $5000 to our Turkey Drive. Lakeview UMC is one of Valley View Food Banks main contributors.

MR1aOne change this year is that we would like to focus our collections on food. We will continue to collect canned food items and pantry food items throughout the year. Please put your food items in the Collection Locker by the outside staff door. Food items are the only items we are collecting right now. During the year, we will hold special drives for clothing or other items needed by local charities and the Food Bank. We will MR2let you know when and what we are collecting. Please don’t bring used clothing or other items right now. We suggest you take used clothing or bedding to collection bins located throughout our community. We have bins or boxes to collect food items in Smoot Hall and in the lobby of the sanctuary if it is difficult for you to put items in the outside locker.

You have been generous in your contributions to the Green Buckets at Amazing Grays and TNT. We will continue to collect your money contributions. Every little bit helps, and your generosity helps us contribute to the programs for the homeless in our area, Valley View Food Bank, Justa Center and UMOM.
