Today’s scripture: James 1:17-27
“We are to be “doers” of God’s word in ways we live, not just people who hear God’s words in scripture and worship and leave it at that. We continue our look at James, an action-oriented, practically focused little book of wisdom in the New Testament.
God calls us to build a life of faithfulness in service, even when it is inconvenient to us.”
“We may sometimes feel inarticulate about our faith, or tongue-tied, unsure what to say. James reminds us that actions are a language of their own. James says we are to proclaim God’s word by doing it. This speaks volumes. God may push the church and us into our discomfort zone to serve people and in places we did not expect to go.
World aches to see an authentic faith. World aches see God’s word lived. The church does not exist for itself or just /for us. It might be the only organization that exists for others who are not here yet. The church does not survive by looking just within. Doing God’s word may require a stand that could be costly.
Make God’s love transparent, visible & seen. How we live the word of God may be the most compelling gospel that others will see. We’re learning to saying yes to God as an essential step of trust. God will take us to encounters of faith that might astound us. Let’s show God’s word in ways and places that we never expected to go; places where it is so needed.”
