Today’s scripture:  2 Corinthians 4:13 – 5:1

“Everyone needs food, water, shelter; the basics Maslow described in his “”Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.”” Indeed, we are commanded by God to help provide these basics to our neighbors and we do that at Lakeview as we are able. No matter what we build here, even our beautiful sanctuary, it is like a ripped tent – worthless and unable to protect us from the elements of this world. Paul reminds us that we need not worry even though our outer nature (our bodies and the physical around us) is wasting away because the eternal glory of God awaits us. This is the essence of our faith, the assurance of things we cannot yet see.

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” from the book, “”The Little Prince.”” Everything we build here on earth, in this lifetime, is like a ripped tent. Only what we build for the kingdom of God is eternal and when we leave this ripped tent, we will be welcomed to the permanent home God has prepared in advance your you and I. Let’s build what is eternal.”
