Today’s scripture: Luke 10: 38-42
“Our daily lives are filled with distraction. We’re bombarded with rapid-fire news & instant information on sports, financial markets, politics, gossip and scandal. The media we consume often flits from one image to the next. This is difficult to resist. The forces of distraction are persistent, constantly pushing us around. In our busyness we miss the nearness of God’s kingdom. Sunday we’ll talk about how we can receive a calmer, more focused spiritual life. In fact, in our spiritual lives, doing less is often more or gives us more. We’ll learn to live a bit more the “carpe diem” approach of seizing the moment when God shows up. God is much nearer than we think, far more compassionate & caring than our busy lives can hurriedly grasp. God far more willing to give to us than we are to receive. All we need to do is notice how close God’s help has already come to us.
We would like you to know: God is not only working to get our attention, but God is constantly showing up, even in the busy and routine moments of life.
Feel relief, a Holy Spirit breath of fresh air that we can receive the gift of God’s presence & immediate help. Some calm is available to us in the midst of life’s busyness.
What we would like you to do: find ways & time to slow down, receive & stay in the presence of God & discover how easy this is.”
