How You Can Help – iHELP

Lakeview’s I-HELP Program is very busy this summer and working well. The program is working up to capacity, and we have 12 guests almost every weekend.

Your donations of time, effort, food, money, etc. have made a tremendous difference. We want to thank you for all your help. We would like to especially thank Roger and Kathie Dupont who make sure we have delicious Friday night meals to serve our guests. We also want to thank Merry Lassa, who faithfully keeps our guests with clean linens each week. Then we need to thank the many, many volunteers who serve Friday night dinner, make bag lunches, serve Saturday breakfast, make Saturday breakfast, drive the bus to pick up our guests, and keep our volunteer sign up going. Lakeview United Methodist Men invite our guests to their breakfast the first of every month. Over 25 of you help directly each month. In addition to all of this, your monetary donations through either the green buckets or direct donations, enable us to keep the program going.

The volunteer sign-up sheets are always in Smoot Hall. We continue to need more volunteers to fix Saturday breakfasts. There are many ways you can do this. Some of our volunteers make pancakes and sausage, some bring in egg casseroles. You can make something at home and bring it in to heat up or cook it right in the kitchen. We have a gridle, pans, and a coffee maker. Other suggestions are bagels, burritos, egg sandwiches, etc.

However, you volunteer, make some time to eat with our guests or just sit down and introduce yourself. Our guests enjoy this, and you will find it really lifts your spirit.
