Hello for Pastor Brandon

Pastor Brandon

Hello Lakeview UMC! I am Rev. Brandon Gilmore. I was born and raised in southern Ohio where I received my first degree in Plastics’ Engineering. After receiving a BA at Asbury University, I married Rachel Gilmore, we soon both joined the US Peace Corps where I taught English, and Physics, in a high school in Lom, Bulgaria. After serving two years in Bulgaria, we both went to Duke Divinity School and received our Masters of Divinity degree in 2009. After completing my MDiv at Duke, I was the associate pastor at St. Andrew’s UMC in Virginia Beach, VA. After that I was appointed to St. John’s UMC in Norfolk, VA. Then I was appointed to Nimmo UMC in Virginia Beach, VA. We had a very brief stay during COVID in Nashville, and then moved West. I came to the Valley in July of 2021 in hopes of revitalizing Central UMC, and now I am here.

We welcomed Bennett into this world in 2008 around Christmas time, and then Elizabeth joined us in 2011, right after Easter Sunday: we have Christmas and Easter babies! The Gilmore’s have been a modern version of Noah’s Ark, in that we seem to have 2s of things, 2 kids, 2 churches, and 2 dogs. We have Chico our Boxer who is an old man now, and then we have crazy Daisy our Pug who is literally Velcro-ed to Rachel when she’s home. Both our children are at Arizona School For The Arts and are usually busy in rehearsals and performances: it’s a lot of work keeping up with teenagers! Rachel is the Director of New and Vital Faith for our Annual Conference, and she is always busy traveling, preaching, teaching, and strengthening local churches throughout our Conference and Nationally.

I enjoy golfing, woodworking and am taking up fly fishing. I am passionate about missions, preaching, teaching and having fun with parishioners. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and serving together in Sun City, Arizona!

Grace be with you,

Rev. Gilmore
