Heifer Update for November 2020

Heifer

Monthly Heifer Update for November

Five more Irrigation Pumps have been donated, thanks to your generous gifts. Five more families that won’t have to carry water daily for their gardens, crops and livestock. What a blessing you have been to the many recipients of the “Cool, Clear Water” Project. As you read THIS, the project will have ended. Final report will be in the January 2021 issue of the Lakeviewer.

I have another fantastic report for you. Over the past three years, this congregation and friends have donated just over $50,000.00 to the Heifer project. Countless lives have been freed of their hunger and poverty. Again, what a blessing you have been.

Now, a new project is underway, “GPS”. Now what does Global Positioning System have to do with the LUMM Heifer Project? Although we do serve globally our “GPS” is Goat, Pig, Sheep. Cost of each of these animals is $120.

Every time that total is met, one will be donated. Visit the display in Smoot Hall, pick your favorite and donate. Any amount is appreciated. Together we can make this program another Heifer success. Breaking the cycle of hunger and poverty around the world, while caring for the earth. That’s exactly what can be done with these life-saving animals, “GPS”.

Heifer Update November 29th

Yes, the GPS Program is here. Now it’s your job to decide who to support.  Each animal is $120.  You can pick your choice.  The new display is in Fellowship Hall with cards, envelopes, banks, everything you need to help support this program.  We know that whatever you decide as your favorite, the animal you pick will help a small farmer start lifting them out of poverty and hunger.  Every gift counts, no matter how small.  Each time the $120 is met for a specific animal, it will be on its way to make a difference.

The LUMM are so very appreciative of all your support.  Thank You and God’s Blessings.

Heifer Update November 22nd

After TNT on October 29th we were going to listen to George Odhiambo, the Kenya Country Director, talk to us about the Heifer involvement in Kenya, Africa.  This program was initiated by Lindsay Duvall, our Heifer representative.  Following his presentation we were going to do a Q + A session with him.  Well, it didn’t happen – George was to get on at 5:00 AM, Kenya time, and we still don’t know why the connection failed.  The next week Lindsay and I hooked up with him, he gave his presentation, we asked several questions and it all ended being a very interesting and informative meeting.

It was all recorded and is now on the LUMC website.  Check it out on Saturday’s Lakeviewer.

Only nine days left of the Cool, Clear Water Program.

We have so much to be thankful for, let’s spread it around the world.

Heifer Update November 15th

Two weeks, two days, that’s what is left of the “Cool, Clear Water” Project.  The Lakeview United Methodist Men, want to thank everyone for making this project such a success.  To date you have donated 15 Irrigation Pumps and 3 Gifts of Water for Life.  Heifer International has matched 8 Irrigation Pumps and 1 Gift of Water for Life.

Now we are closing in on Thanksgiving.  I am so thankful for the response you have given to the LUMM / Heifer Project.  I am also very thankful for the opportunity to give so many the life-saving gift of water.  But, I am most thankful for the Gift from Jesus, living water.  “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.  He who believes in me,” as the scripture said, “from his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.”

Heifer Update November 8th

Plan A: The scheduled October 29th TNT visit with Kenya didn’t materialize.  Connections were not made with George Odhiambo in Kenya.  He was going to tell us of Heifer’s work in Kenya, particularly with dairy and poultry.  George has 10 years of international development experience, has led and managed country programs in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan and farm Africa as a regional program manager.

Plan B: On Thursday, November 5th Lindsay Duvall (our Heifer representative) and I connected on Zoom with George.  He gave a great over-view of his role with Heifer and the projects in which he is heavily involved in Kenya.  He then answered many questions we had for him.  This was all recorded and a link supplied so it can be put on our website.  I will give your more details next week.  Be sure to check it out.

The “Cool, Clear Water” campaign is still in full swing.  Join in with the LUMM in thought, prayer and donation to bring life-giving water to God’s less fortunate.

Heifer Update November 1st

I am pleased to announce another great week.  Four Irrigation Pumps were donated last week.  That will end the struggle of carrying buckets of water each day for the gardens and crops and for the animal consumption. It will also mean that those who were carrying that water will be free to attend school.  Thank You from the LUMM and Thank You “Heifer” for making that possible.

On another note, just short of three years this congregation and friends have donated $50,000.00 to this charity.  Many lives changed, and yes, even some saved.  What a blessing you have been to many that have nothing.

God Bless You All!
