Heifer Update

Quack,Quack,Quack.  That’s one quack from each of the three flocks of ducks that were sent out today. Three more families will be able to free themselves from hunger and poverty.

I am so proud that the Lakeview United Methodist Men have such outstanding support. I haven’t for some time given you the calculation of how many families have been blessed by your generosity.  I’ll do that next week.  You and I will be amazed at the numbers.

We still have need for more flocks. The only thing more precious than those chicks, ducklings and goslings are the hands that will feed them, care for them and love them.

The first month of Flock Sale-2 is over.  Despite all the interruptions , I feel we had a wonderful response.  Your kindness and generosity, shown through your donations, allowed the LUMM to donate 11 flocks this past month,  7 flocks of chicks and 2 flocks each of ducks and geese.

What a wonderful start for 11 families to become self-reliant. To be able to put food on the table, money to buy more food, clothing and, oh yes, being  able to send their precious little ones to school.

Well, the COVID-19 virus has slowed the world very much, but has done nothing to slow my efforts to support the poor and hungry around the world.  Now, here is a novel idea, ”Give them a flock”.  Thank you from the LUMM and God Bless You.

It’s always interesting to look back and see what you have done.

Since Dec. Of 2017 , 29 months ago, to present, the LUMM
has made donations to Heifer International in the amount of $38,732.00.

That is what you, this generous congregation, have contributed to this wonderful cause. Breaking this down to family relief, those donations have brought a potential 450 families out of hunger and poverty.  PRAISE GOD!!  Passing the gift and 9x impact raise that family count to 900 and 4050 respectively. What more can be said, except a huge THANK YOU from the Lakeview United Methodist Men for your support.  Please join us as this program keeps moving forward.

Everywhere it’s the same story.  Elsa and Segundo Calo live in Equador.  After receiving their training and a heifer, life changed for them.

Their income started going up, enabling them to buy a few chickens.  Now with a better diet and income from milk and eggs, it was on to their number 1 priority, that of educating their two boys.” High school, college, they will decide and I will support them.” Segundo says,  “

God permitting, I would like them to become professionals.” Elsa added. The support of this congregation has brought out many stories like this one into reality,  Thank you from the LUMM / Heifer project.  Lets cause more stories to be written.
