Habitat for Humanity

Like every other organization, Habitat for Humanity has been impacted by the Corona virus.  Virtually all of Habitat’s central Arizona building projects have been suspended since March.  The only exception was the completion of one home, as it was in its final stages when the recommendations to quarantine were just beginning.  But the organization stands ready to return to providing housing options for struggling families once the critical period of infections has passed.

In the interim, Habitat is doing whatever it can to support the local community.  On Thursday, May 7 Habitat held a prayer “gathering” online to support the National Day of Prayer.  Twenty-two participants took part in the gathering via Zoom coordinated by Andrea Northup, Habitat’s sponsor relations manager.  Our very own Pastor John Fairchild began the proceedings with a message about “testing positive for faith.”  He referenced Hebrews 10:23-25 and offered the first in a series of prayers from those in “attendance.” Laure Niehaus with The Casa provided the following Prayer for a Pandemic.  It is most appropriate as we continue to think of others as well as ourselves and our loved ones during these difficult times.

Like Habitat, Lakeview UMC stands ready to return to our efforts in support of providing housing to those less fortunate in our local community.
